Opportunities
Otyokwah Camp and Retreat Center (Camp Otyokwah) hires seasonal and part-time staff to supplement our year-round staff. In the summer, we hire college age summer staff that live on site to help in a variety of areas around camp. We also employ part-time kitchen and housekeeping staff throughout the year with reduced hours in the off-season. Off-season hours are mostly on weekends.
Staff are one of the most critical elements to our ministry. That is why we are searching for outstanding staff, who are growing spiritually and emotionally mature, to make our camp the best possible.
Summer Camp Staff (College age)
If you are looking for a significant way to serve God this summer, prayerfully consider working at Camp Otyokwah. Serving is hard work, but has many rewards. The interaction with campers and fellow staff encourages spiritual growth and lasting friendships.
Camp Otyokwah is a growing year-round camping ministry located near Mohican State Park in north central Ohio. We offer kids, youth, and adults a fun, enjoyable experience where they can get away from the distractions of life and experience God in a new way.
We begin each summer with a week of summer staff training followed by four and a half weeks of our own overnight/residential youth summer camps. Volunteers come each week to fill the roles of leaders, counselors, and Bible teachers. After that we serve five weeks of guest rental groups who run their own weekly overnight/residential summer camp programs. Program staff help serve their program needs by facilitating camp activity areas and providing summer campers with a safe environment to have fun. We provide an important Christian witness, through our service, lifestyle, and conversations with summer campers and others.
Summer employment dates are June 1 - August 14, 2010.
As you weigh the opportunities for your summer, please keep in mind we are looking for staff who:
- Sincerely love the Lord and desire to see campers come to know and grow in Him.
- Work well with others.
- Reflect a good self-concept through appearance, behavior, and relationships with others.
- Are teachable and flexible.
Each summer staff member is very important to us and we desire that they grow and mature in their faith as they serve others. We are committed to equipping and investing in our summer staff and love to see them excel as they take on new challenges as they trust the Lord.
